Recent Topics Posters Kurtz, Cassandra [1]. Distribution of select vegetation on Phase 3 plots in the Northern Research Station. Plants have a noteworthy importance within our ecosystems. Vegetation data from close to 2,000 Phase 3 plots collected by the U.S. Forest Service’s Northern Research Station FIA units were used to examine and compare species presence and distribution. Phase 3 data offer insight on various topics of interest. This study looks at plant diversity, and the distribution of select invasive and medicinal plants. With increased interest in nontimber forest products for décor and medicinal products, this data offers insight on availability. Several species of interest are highlighted in the region monitored by the Northern Research Station. The most commonly recorded species are shown for each of the 24 states of the Northern Research Station, which covers the northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States. Evaluating the presence and distribution of these species offers valuable perspective and leads to future research work related to other influential attributes.
