Anti-inflammatory of Ya-Mahanintangtong remedy extract.

Ya-Mahanintangtong remedy is a Thai herbal remedy listed in the National List of Essential Medicine 2011, for anti-infection effects such as for fever, pharyngitis and chickenpox. However, there is no specific report regarding Ya-Mahanintangtong remedy itself. So, the objective of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory of Ya-Mahanintangtong remedy. To elucidate the proinflammatory cytokines as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) production (ELISA), the ethanolic extract exhibited highest TNF-α inhibitory activity IL-6 with IC50 values of 33.09 ± 0.22 and 17.20 ± 0.65 µg/mL, respectively. This work demonstrated anti-inflammatory of Ya-Mahanintangtong remedy. These have been used historically in Thai folk medicine as antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agents. These promising results should be followed up by preclinical studies to see if these extracts may have clinical potential.
