On-line “Plant Anatomy Study Guide and Laboratory Manual”.

In this contribution we will presenting the On-line “Plant Anatomy Study Guide and Laboratory Manual”. The manual is an interactive document consisting of information on specific topics, activities related to the topics, sets of photos of plant anatomy sections, and conclusion questions for each topic. It is divided in 16 topics: 1- Organization of Plant Anatomy, 2- Three Tissue System, 3- The Organization of the cell, 4- The apical meristem of the shoot, 5- Epidermis, 6- Parenchyma, 7- Collenchyma and Sclerenchyma, 8- Primary Vascular Tissues: Xylem and Phloem, 9- Secondary Vascular Tissues, 10- Cambial Activity, 11- Laticifers, 12- Stems, 13- Leaves, 14- Nodal Anatomy, 15- Roots, and 16- Flowers, Fruits, and Seeds. In addition to the specific photos used in each one of the labs, the teacher/students will be able to check additional examples by perusing more than 400 images from the General Plant Anatomy Teaching and the Plant Anatomy Adaptations Collections imaged at the Cornell University Plant Anatomy Collection website (CUPAC) which cover all the topics included in the manual. In addition to the more than 500 taxa represented at CUPAC, these two specific collections cover more than 250 taxa and represent many organs in different stages of development.
