Reproductive Processes Spurgeon, Alexandria [1], Krakos, Kyra [2]. The reproductive ecology of Castilleja coccinea in a Missouri glade habitat. The morphology of a plant is important to study to understand how variables such as climate and habitat are affecting its reproductive ecology. Castilleja coccinea, a Missouri native, was used in this study for detecting morphological changes and pollen limitation during this drought year. Current morphological data was compared with past data to observe these differences, and pollination treatments were done on the C. coccinea to determine reproductive success. Compared with past years, glade morphology did change and the reproductive success decreased. The change in morphology and blooming time from a longer growing season can negatively affect a plant’s maintenance of its reproductive success from year to year.
