Celebrating 15 years of SERNEC: Where we've been, where we are, and where we are going Franck, Alan [1]. Gems in central and south Florida herbaria, and the oldest known Florida specimens in European herbaria. Digitization and networking have been a boon to the understanding of the flora of Florida. Through digital images from European herbaria, exploring the earliest known herbarium records collected in Florida revealed how the historic definition of Florida has changed relative to the current state boundaries. A plethora of new county records to the Florida flora have been added through visitations and study of digital images of multiple herbaria throughout the SERNEC network as well as those outside of SERNEC. Some interesting examples resulted in large range extensions or uncovering the naturalization of a species to be decades older than previously known. Log in to add this item to your schedule
